23 Noa Rosenberg-Segalovitz Tracing its roots back to 1926, Tnuva, was initially established as a Cooperative Society owned by the kibbutzim (collective farms) and moshavim (agricultural communities). Today, owned by Bright Food Group, it is the largest food corporation in Israel. We took the chance to get acquainted with its busy VP. General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, Noa Rosenberg-Segalovitz. Israel Desks Magazine: You joined Tnuva just last year, in July 2018, what drew you to work in-house after many years in private practice? Noa: I had previously worked in the International Corporate and Securities Group of Goldfarb Seligman, one of Israel’s largest and most prominent law firms. I used to handle a significant amount of cross-border M&A transactions, and had not seriously entertained the thought of working in-house, but after meeting with the CEO of Tnuva and its board of directors while interviewing for this position, I found it really very interesting and intriguing. The GC role is a more managerial position, in addition to the lawyering aspect of the job, and that really appealed to me. There were so many areas to consider – competition law, commercial, regulatory, litigation, class actions and more, so I decided to take a leap of faith and go for it. Having studied at TAU, what attracted you to the practice of law? Noa: I studied law and economics and thought it would give me choices in the business world. After an enjoyable internship and one year of lawyering, I went toNYU and strengthenedmy knowledge of corporate lawbefore joining the Corporate Group of the NYC office of Covington & Burling. Corporations, to me, are extremely fascinating. There is a unique and interesting relationship between shareholders, the board and management. Plus, they are always undertaking transactions, from day-to-day commercial transactions to M&A transactions, or even just taking control of third parties, there is always something that I enjoy. What gives you the most pleasure as GC, and what are the trickiest challenges? Noa: The biggest thrill is managing all the aspects of the legal work of a big corporation. There is always something new and challenging that comes along that you need to learn and fast and be able to react to it. It is a fast- paced environment where you need to be quick and I find that exhilarating. I would say that the flip side of that is where the biggest challenges are. You
